Frequently Asked
Questions

Great question! There are so many different grants out there, and they’re often tailored to specific industries and goals—whether that’s technology, sustainability, community initiatives, or something else entirely. The tricky part? Grants come with their own set of eligibility criteria and deadlines (which can be tight!). That’s where I come in—I help you navigate the options and find the best fit for your organisation - whether you’re a business, community group or not-for-profit.
-
Great question! Every grant has different eligibility criteria—some are for specific industries, locations, or project types. The key is to find grants that align with your organisation’s goals. If you’re unsure, I can help! I offer grant eligibility assessments and strategy calls to determine which opportunities are worth pursuing.

Finding the right grants can be overwhelming—there are thousands of opportunities out there across Australia, but not all of them will be the right fit for your business or organization. One of the best resources for searching grants in Australia is The Grants Hub. It’s a comprehensive grant directory that allows you to filter opportunities based on your industry, location, and funding needs. There’s even a few of my blogs on their website.
-
If you're just looking for a database of available grants, I recommend The Grants Hub—a fantastic resource where you can search for funding opportunities based on your industry, location, and needs. My focus is on the strategic approach to grant funding, helping businesses and non-profits get grant-ready, develop long-term funding strategies, and position themselves for success.
Getting Started with Grants
-
Think of me as your personal grant strategist and writer. I do the heavy lifting—identifying the right grants, crafting compelling applications, and helping you put your best foot forward. My job is to make sure your application stands out so you have the best chance of securing funding. I can guide you through the grant application process and to ensure we submit a great grant application giving you the best chance of being successful.
-
Absolutely! In fact, having a strong grant strategy is just as important as writing a great application. I help organisations map out their long-term funding goals, identify recurring grant opportunities, and build a plan that keeps you ahead of the game.I’ve also developed a brand new program, The Grant Accelerator Program for larger organisations seeking growth opportunities in 2025.
-
The Grants Accelerator Program is my brand new signature program designed to take businesses and not-for-profits from 'we should probably apply for a grant' to 'we just won funding!' It’s a step-by-step system that helps you identify the best grants, create a compelling growth project plan, and develop a long-term funding strategy. If you’re serious about securing grants and want expert guidance along the way, this program is for you!
-
The Grant Ready Lab is a hands-on, practical experience where I help not-for-profits and community groups become truly grant-ready. It consists of working sessions where we can learn together, ask Liz questions and allow you to dedicate some time to working on your growth strategy.
We tackle things like:
✅ Understanding what funders look for
✅ Organising key documents (so you're not scrambling at the last minute)
✅ Developing a funding roadmap
✅ Learning how to write stronger applications. If you’ve ever missed out on a grant because you weren’t prepared—or didn’t even know one was available—this Lab is for you!

How The Grants Club Can Help You
-
Every grant is different, but the general process includes: A deep dive into your funding needs and eligibility. Researching and selecting the right grants for you. Preparing a strong, persuasive application. Submitting it on time (because deadlines matter!). I work with you at every step to ensure the process is as smooth (and stress-free!) as possible.
-
As I often say, every grant is different, every organisation is different, so it all depends. It also depends on how ‘grant ready’ and prepared you are when the grant opportunity is released. Some grant applications can be wrapped up in a few weeks, while others take months—especially if they require detailed financials, letters of support, or partnerships. The best approach? Get “grant-ready” in advance so when the perfect grant opportunity comes up, you’re ready to go!
-
Grant applications can be tricky and they’re not always everyone’s favourite activity - I get it! So I do see some common mistakes all the time, but it’s not the end of the world. Some of the biggest mistakes include: Not following the guidelines (yes, they really do matter!). Not checking your organisation is eligible AND that your project is ALSO eligible to apply Writing in a way that’s unclear or too technical. Not answering the actual question being asked Missing the word or character limits Not clearly explaining the impact of your project. Missing deadlines (yikes!) - you only get one chance to submit! The good news? I help my clients avoid these pitfalls so they can submit stronger applications.
-
I wish I could guarantee funding, but grants are highly competitive! What I can guarantee is that you’ll submit the strongest possible application, be fully prepared, and have a clear strategy for future funding. My clients have an 85% success rate, which is well above industry standards.
-
While no one can guarantee funding (grants are super competitive and there’s lots of unknown variables!), I have an 85% success rate and a 100% track record of submitting applications on time. My strategic approach and understanding of what funders are looking for give my clients the best possible shot at success. I’ve also worked at State Government Agencies in the grants space, so I’ve been on both sides of the fence. You could say that I know the ‘tricks of the trade.’
The Grant Application Process
-
Beyond just writing grants, I help organisations who are ready to create a grants strategy and explore new opportunities. I make sure that your growth strategy aligns with your overall organisation goals. This includes readiness assessments, long-term planning, and even financial reviews to ensure you’re in the best position to win grants.
-
Organisations are always changing, so it’s good to review your grants and growth strategy at least once a year—or whenever big changes happen in your business or the funding landscape. Keeping your strategy fresh ensures you don’t miss out on new opportunities. Also make sure you keep your documents up to date (so they’re easy to attach to your grant applications).
-
Absolutely. A good grant strategy isn’t just about the next application—it’s about long-term sustainability and is a long-game. I work with organisations to build funding roadmaps, identify recurring grant opportunities, and plan for growth beyond just one-off funding wins. Check out my new program - The Grants Accelerator Program.
